Article by Juan: Songwriting: From Bedroom To The Studio
Juan Abella is an LA-based, Argentinian born singer-songwriter and producer. Send Juan a message.
Latest News: I am preparing one or two releases at the moment with my band, called Vicious Rooster. After being involved in other projects as a songwriter and a producer I think it’s time to go back to the rock sound that I feel suits me the most.
Juan, thank you for joining us today at VQS. Take us back in time to how you first fell in love with music.
I remember always feeling attracted to music, often asking my Dad the name of the songs he played while driving somewhere or trying to learn my favorite TV show’s songs. But if I had to choose a moment in my life it would be when I discovered the Help! album by The Beatles while playing with my grandfather’s CDs. I was probably 6 years old. It was a turning point in my life.
What 3 core values do you believe are necessary for success?
Talent, hard work & luck.
Who have been some of your favorite people/projects to work with?
I usually choose whom I decide to involve with artistically so each artist that I have collaborated with is important to me. I had a lot of fun working with my friend Sandra North on her two single releases (Go check our new video for “Same Story ‘Bout A Broken Heart” on YouTube), which we co-wrote and I produced. I’ve also worked with Jose “Chipi” Estrada on a song for a movie and with Kylee Stone on her first EP.
What future opportunities would you like to be involved with?
I would love to release an EP soon and various acoustic singles.
