Latest News: I’ve been working in several projects lately. A very important one with the alt pop artist Torrey Mercer and her future release “SHAME”. Not only that but in general I feel I have been lucky enough to work with amazing artist here in Los Angeles that represent the minorities that I would love to have more visibilization.
Another artist I’ve been working a lot is the Mexican-Jewish artist Jesaiah. We have released songs like “Rómpela y Calla” and the upcoming single “MALA” which I’m really excited for you guys to hear it. Every element in the project has been crafted with care and genuine honesty, so I’m sure you guys will enjoy these songs as much as we did when recording them.
Other artists that I’ve been working with are “Niña Dioz”, Jason Guerra, “K Dyer” , among others!

Sonnemm, welcome to VQS! Tell us a little bit about you and your music.

Hi! Thank you very much for inviting me to your guys space. Music has always been part of my life. When I was a kid, I joined a Choir and in my early teens I started playing in a band. I learned how to play bass guitar and drums, and since then I never stopped.

Music is something as essential for me as breathing.

Do you know that feeling when you’re hungry and you haven’t eaten anything? How does that feel? Bad right? That’s how I feel if I don’t do music. I have to have it, do it, or if not it’s like something essential in my life is missing.
If you ask me when was the moment I decided to make music full time, I still remember it as if it was yesterday. I was playing with my metal band back when I was 16 years old and I remember one person of the crowd was asking fiercely for my drumstick. I remember all the excitement and adrenaline and rush that you feel when on stage and just closing my eyes and thinking “This is what I want to do for the rest of my life.” Today, I have the same excitement with the music I produce in my studio as when I was that 16 year old kid playing drums in a small stage in Peru!

Always remembering that the spark came from the artist idea of wanting to say something bigger.

If communication is good and the chemistry is there, long working relationships will come from it and more importantly, amazing and beautiful songs!

We as Music Producers, help artists to create the platform they need to express their feelings, their emotions and their message. Some of them are progressive, others are disruptive, others are rebellious and others are contradictory, so it all depends on who you are working with and that the chemistry have to be there.

What 3 core values do you believe are necessary for success?

The first is having Thick skin”. If you take criticism personal, or if you take every comment too personal, it’s going go be very difficult to succeed in this industry. We have to be open to listen what others have to say, learn from it if it’s necessary and then move on.

Secondly, communication”. If you don’t know how to communicate your feelings about something, or your vision as an artist, is going to be very difficult for people to know what you want or understand where you want to go and what do you want to communicate with your art.
Finally, “honesty”. Unfortunately the Music Industry is full of people that are not honest and are willing to destroy beautiful things in order to “get what they want or deserve”. Time has taught me that in the end, all those people don’t really succeed cause they end up being really lonely and time just put the honest people up there. I’m not saying everyone who’s up there is a saint, but you have to be genuine in your wishes and intentions in order for you to make it.

Who have been some of your favorite people/projects to work with?

I love the artists that have given me the opportunity to work with them cause I feel I can contribute a little bit to their lives and that makes me really happy. Just to mention some: Jesaiah, Torrey Mercer, Niña Dioz, Isra, BRAVVO, 2minutemovies, Carolina Lee, etc!

What future opportunities would you like to be involved with?

I would love work with other artist like Bad Bunny, J Balvin, SG Lewis, Tame Impala, Clairo, etc.

It’s really difficult to just focus on one genre but I feel music is a whole big thing and those are the first artist that came to my head!
