Yes, we are facing a new world.
It’s been over 3 months since the Covid-19 crisis started. Things are changing so fast day by day that we all feel confused. Nevertheless, historically, we, human beings are capable of adapting to the new environment. This is a new normal. We are being introduced to the new normal. Today, I’m presenting my thoughts about how we are supposed to utilize this unsettled time.

- Online Networking? Well, it’s all good
This is not a new thing. Even before the pandemic hit hard, a lot of businesses throughout the world were more and more getting connected to each other through the internet. Now it’s “a must” to electronically network. A good thing about online networking is saving time and money. No need to fly out to Paris or Seoul. Thanks to Zoom, Skype, Webex, FaceTime, Facebook Messenger, Google Hangouts and others. All you have to do is log in and wear a shirt in front of the monitor. Oh, no fancy makeup needed.
- Let’s use multimedia tools – It’s not that difficult
You don’t have to be afraid of poking around your computer here and there. Software applications are just tools for our daily life. These days software and the OS are quite user friendly. For example, I started making thumbnail images for my audio clip channel with MS Powerpoint. It was not that difficult at all! I got some small tips from a YouTube channel and I watched their tutorial a few times. That’s it. So, it means, you can do it like others do. Let’s be friends with them. Embrace the technology.
- Home office? Set break times as if you are at the office
For most people, if you are not self-employed, work-from-home culture may be confusing. Many of my friends have complained that they don’t know when they have to take a break between work and private life. So, some of them stick to the computer constantly and lose track of time. I’ve been a freelancer for over 15 years. From my experience, setting break times 2 or 3 times during your daily work purposely is best. Otherwise, you’ll keep working or keep yourself distracted by the surroundings. (Yes… TV and your comfy couch are waving at you!)
- It’s okay to follow your own pace
Cooling down. No need to run as fast as you can. One more good thing about being at home is that you have your own space to yourself. No need to worry about being stuck in the traffic, and no need to worry about dealing with annoying co-workers. So, let’s think about it this way: this contactless time period is to cool down your brain. No one will honk behind your back. Sleep more for your body instead of wasting time outside. It’s safe at home.
- Taking care of your body and soul: Health is wealth
I’ve received help from the medical doctors since February 2020. I’m not afraid to mention that I am glad that I am finally able to treat myself properly. It’s extremely a slow process but it’s absolutely better than doing nothing. When you don’t take good care of yourself, you are going to become a rotten apple around your friends and family. Health is wealth. Sometimes people don’t realize how much help they actually need ASAP and are instead in denial. Due to the Covid-19 crisis, many people have more problems – anxiety attacks, depression, mood changes, fatigue from external and internal effects, etc. Please do listen to your body (inside and out) and hug yourself. If you have a financial problems preventing you from seeing a doctor, there are many public medical help systems — more than before, due to Covid-19. So, find your way to get help.
